Spectre
a.k.a. Julia Shockley @ Aerial CLT
Performance Program Manager & Aerial Silks and Hoop Instructor
With her calm energy and quick attention, Julia is experienced at coaching people at all points in their aerial journey, from first-timers to veterans of the stage. Julia began her own aerial training in 2015 but is a life long dancer, having received classical ballet training in her home state of Maryland and then earning a BFA in dance performance from East Carolina University. Equipped with a strong grasp of vertical theory, a knack for finding novel shapes in familiar wraps, and her own exploration-led approach to act composition, Julia’s main focuses in teaching are building a strong technical foundation and then helping students translate that base into soaring performances, polished at every edge.
Although she has offerings for beginner aerial hoop students, Julia primarily teaches intermediate aerial silks and manages the performance programs at her home studio, Aerial CLT. In addition to her group silks classes, which focus on honing technique and acquiring new skills, Julia can be found leading performance prep classes for students who are new to the stage and running rehearsals with her more stage-experienced performance troupe students. Julia is also available for private lessons on silks.
